The Rice Route is our star route. It offers the visitor the possibility of knowing the world of rice cultivation, from sowing to harvesting.
We start the route from the old quarter of Pals, where the train stop is located. The journey that takes us to the mill, lasts about 20 minutes, and runs through the area of Pals farms and typical fields of Baix Empordà.
The train makes a stop at the Molí de Pals, where the history of the building is known, from which texts related to the rice of 1452 have been found. Later we visit the facilities where electricity was manufactured at the beginning of the XX century, and we go towards the room of the old mill. Here the visitor can observe with sampling machinery which is the whitening rice process. Afterwards, we give the visitor the option to buy a package of rice and we carry out a beer tasting made with rice from El Molí, L'Arrossa.
To conclude the visit we started the return through the rice fields to the town of Pals. Surrounded by nature, animals, and birds, who live in this environment included in the Natural Park of Montgrí, Illes Medes and Baix Ter, large and small enjoy this cultural and family outing.
